Big Band Learning Orchestra

If you are a beginner or advanced who is not ready to play in the big band, you can join the Big Band Learning Orchestra to prepare for the Big Band, in order to improve your timing and improvisation.

The repertoire ranges from swing to Latin and from jazz to pop. 

The orchestra rehearses weekly on Tuesdays from 19.00 to 20.30.

Admission to the Big Band Learning Orchestra is in consultation with musical director Marc Huynen and with your own teacher.

Costs: 240 euros ex VAT.

Marc Huynen

Trumpeter Marc Huynen studied at the conservatories of Maastricht and Hilversum with Rob Bruynen, Jan Oosthof and Ruud Breuls. He attended workshops with, among others, Jerry and Ack van Rooyen, Peter Herbolzheimer, Rob Pronk, Vince Mendoza, John Clayton, Andy Haderer, Bobby Shew and Jiggs Whigham.

Huynen played in the orchestras: The Glenn Miller Orchestra, No limit, Jazzorchestra National Du Luxembourg, Il novo cente (night of the proms), New Cool Collective big band, the WDR big band and L’Equipe d’reve. He accompanied jazz musicians such as Toots Thielemans, Ack van Rooyen, Rick Kiefer, Chuck and Bob Findley as well as pop groups such as Belle Perez and Rowen Heze. In a small line-up he can regularly be heard with his jazz quartet or with the jazz tronauts (groovy jazz).
