BASS GUITAR LESSONS IN MAASTRICHT
Together with the drums, the bass guitar forms the basis of a band. The ultimate goal, of course, is that you will eventually play in a band as a bassist. This is of course also possible in one of the numerous bands that are currently participating in the band course, in the jazz band or perhaps in the Leerorkest or Big Band. Together with your teacher, choose the songs you want to learn to play in an individual lesson or group lesson.
In addition to a bass guitar, you also need a practice amp. You can rent the bass guitar through Kuma , but your teacher can also advise you on the possible purchase of your instrument or amplifier.

Jan Knooren
Jan Knooren (Merkelbeek, 1957) studied double bass at the Maastricht Conservatory. Besides classical music, Jan has always played jazz and pop music. Jan is self-taught on the electric bass. Before and during the conservatory period he works as a bassist with the Limburg Symphony Orchestra and as a studio musician with Teltsar records, where he has contributed to countless hits. Later he also joined André Rieu’s orchestra. In addition to classical music, Jan has always been active in pop music and jazz. As such, he has toured Europe, USA, Mexico and Japan with jazz greats such as Chet Baker, Bobby Militello, Eric Gale and many others.
From 1984 Jan has taught at the Maastricht city music school. This later became Kumulus. First as a bass guitar teacher, later in all disciplines of bass playing.
Besides music, Jan studied psychology at Maastricht University. Here he did his master’s degree in developmental psychology. He conducts research into the relationship between cognition and making music.
