LEARN TO COMPOSE

LEARN TO COMPOSE IN MAASTRICHT

Learn to compose music yourself! Together with the teacher, you investigate what you need to master composing: composition lessons, harmony, form theory, counterpoint, theory, analysis and instrumentation. So in part a composition lesson looks like a theory lesson or arrangement lesson, which is only logical in the composition subject.

Stylistically, anything is possible: old styles (from Gregorian chant to romanticism), simple or complicated, modern styles, jazz or light music styles.

Have you been taking music lessons for several years, can you read music, do you have conceptual insight and are you motivated to learn how to compose? Then it doesn’t matter whether you are a beginner or an advanced musician. The course is offered as an individual lesson.

This course is taught by:

Henry Konsten

Henry Konsten studied composition and piano at the conservatory in Maastricht. He then took the saxophone state exam. He teaches piano and saxophone. If you would like to compose music yourself or make an arrangement of, for example, a well-known song, you can also learn that from Henry.

The musical experience of his students is central to Henry. That’s why he aligns with their musical preferences. As an accompanist of ensembles, he finds it important that people can enjoy making music together.
