VIOLIN and VIOLA

VIOLIN LESSONS IN MAASTRICHT

With ‘our own’ maestro AndrĂ© Rieu as an example, you might want to learn to play the violin yourself. Violin music can strike a chord or set a cheerful tone. The violin is the smallest in the string instrument family. The viola is bigger and sounds darker and warmer. Together they form the basis of a string orchestra.

At Kuma you can take music lessons for both the violin and the viola. This can be done in a group lesson or with individual supervision. You can learn to play the violin at a young age. You can rent or buy your instrument, possibly with a discount. After about three years you can play in the string orchestra.

This course is taught by:

Gosia Loboda

Hello, my name is Gosia Loboda.I am a violinist and violin teacher in Maastricht. I completed my master’s degree in violin with honors at the Maastricht Conservatory. After my studies, I performed in various countries with different orchestras, which has brought me many valuable and inspiring experiences.I have been living happily in Maastricht for several years, where I am part of AndrĂ© Rieu’s orchestra.

Besides performing, my heart is in teaching. It gives me great joy to pass on my knowledge and love for violin music to others.  In my lessons, the student is central. Whether you are young or adult, a beginner or advanced—everyone is welcome. We work together in a relaxed and structured way on technique, musicality, and, above all, the enjoyment of making music.

I look forward to meeting you!

Joanne Wigmans

My name is Joanne Wigmans and I teach violin and viola lessons at KUMA. I started playing the violin at the age of six, simply because I found music beautiful. Since then, music has been a common thread in my life. After my studies at various conservatories, I combine performing with teaching both children and adults, beginners and advanced students. Additionally, I teach methodology at the Conservatory of Maastricht.

In my lessons, the following principles are central:

Enjoyment – making music is fun.

Connection – between the player, the music, and the audience.

Head, heart, and hands – these three work together for a balanced musical development.

Balance – in posture, playing, and the learning process.

Creating conditions for teaching – what you learn is not an end goal, but a means to further your development.

Student-centered – the lesson program aligns with the needs and pace of the student. My goal is to guide each student in a way that fits on their personal musical journey.
